I had employee that we "terminated" as he was returning to school but now he is returning and I can't figure out how to rehire him in Sage. I can't add him as it says his email is already taken, but I can't amend the current page I have for him as it said he was terminated 2 months ago, which although correct I need to bring him back. This is something that happens frequently in our line of work and I will have other employees that I will have to "terminate" and "rehire"

Yes. I have this problem too. If you subscribe to Sage Payroll & Sage HR... you cannot un-terminate an employee. I was told by Sage I needed to create a new employee record for the employee (which involved having the employee create a new email address also in order to use Sage HR app for their paystubs) and also will give them 2 T4s this year.... This is not a very good solution....
This has been a "GREAT IDEA CURRENTLY IN THE WORKS" for three years?? I'm unclear why this hasn't been solved. We hire seasonally and often have return employees. They do not have a unique email address to use every year. Major flaw in this system.

Sage HR already does this. As someone already mentioned, you go into the terminated employees and rehire them. I am confused what the issue is.
We are constantly re-hiring seasonal employees. Not having this option is a SIGNIFICANT issue with Sage HR. Almost to the point that if I had known, I wouldn't have added the service. I asked this very specific question when I was being sold this software, as I knew we had several seasonal employees, and was told re-hiring was available. Now to find out it isn't, is EXTREMELY disappointing.
If you go into the reports option, and go to employee data, and then terminated employees, you have the option to rehire the employee.
It allows you to put a new start date, the reason you are rehiring, and also allows you start fresh, or upload old data.
It was suggested that if we will be hiring the same employee after they do their apprenticeship that we do not terminate them. If you don't terminate them, then you are being charged for that employee on your billing. We have 2 employees that aren't working and probably not until the new year, that we are still paying for
please have a rehire feature other wise it is too cumbersome. We are only a small enterprise but as we grow this will become an issue that makes us change to another program
I'll have to drop Sage over this lacking function. That's too much of an imposition.
We are also a company that re-hires the same employees. I can't believe that this feature is not already added. It is absolutely ridiculous, It is also the same reason that when other people ask me about this program I do not recommend it at this time.
We are a construction company with apprentices and really need this feature. This needs to be added.

This needs to be corrected asap, we have employees coming and going for different reasons, this platform is unless without being able to rehire easily.

Such an unprofessional system to differentiate an employee by email address and not SIN or other legal information! Hope the inactive and rehire buttons are in place soon like every other payroll program very soon, have to print off two T4 reports for the same employee is rather odd.
